Both my documentary and fictional work focus on people, their relationships, their innermost struggles and their smallest stories. Whether I am following "real" people in their lives or creating characters and the situations around them, it always comes down to the uniqueness, absurdity and beauty of their everyday microcosms and encounters. In what might be called emotional case studies, I search for the smallest moments, tiny fragments that define us as who we are, that make us human and at the same time distinguish us from each other. Using writing and film as a magnifying glass (or even a microscope) to figure out how we function as individuals in a society, I (re)create facets of characters, facets of their lives. For me the form grows with the story, the medium and genre shape with the characters, and I am always exploring new ways of presenting them in the most fitting manner.
